High Winds Bring About Electric Service InterruptionsAs of 5:45 p.m. today, an estimated 9,000 Central Hudson customers are reported without power due to winds that continue to buffet the region. Outages peaked at 18,000 at 11 a.m. this morning, and crews have restored service to more than 26,000 customers throughout the day. However, new reports of outages are being received, caused by a continuation of strong wind gusts that are toppling trees and limbs onto power lines. Service interruptions are scattered throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley, as follows:
Dutchess: 3,200 Orange: 1,300 Putnam: 80 Ulster: 3,800 Greene: 760
Crews are addressing 160 damage locations to make repairs and restore service. Due to the continued high winds forecasted throughout the evening, additional service interruptions may be reported as repairs are made. At this time, more than 90 percent of customers currently without power will have their service restored by noon on Thursday, October 8. Customers may report their power condition or check on their restoration status by calling Central Hudson’s automated PowerLine at (845) 452-2700 or 1-800-527-2714. Customers with computer access may also view an on-line outage map and report their power condition or check on their restoration status by logging onto www.CentralHudson.com/StormCentral.html.
