Central Hudson Provides Mutual Aid Crews to Assist in Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation, in cooperation with the New York Mutual Aid Group, is providing 20 electric line crews and support personnel, approximately 50 employees in total, to assist Orange and Rockland utility crews in restoring power in the aftermath of a severe wind and rainstorm that struck the region over the weekend. “The Mid-Hudson Valley was spared the brunt of this wind storm, which devastated much of southeastern New York, Connecticut and New Jersey,” said Charles A. Freni, Senior Vice-President of Customer Services. “With repairs completed to nearly all of the storm damage reported in our region over the weekend, we are making a portion of our crews available to help restore electric service to nearly 10,000 residents and businesses in areas south of our service area. “As part of the New York Mutual Aid Group, we will provide repair crews to other utilities in need only after the needs of our own customers are met first,” said Freni. “Just as we depend on mutual aid from other utilities and private companies when severe weather impacts our region, we will reciprocate with our crews when requested. For example, were it not for the outside crews who provided valuable assistance during the February snow storms, electric service restoration would have taken much longer,” said Freni. “By providing assistance today, we hope to accomplish the same for others to our south.” # # # |
